Lyness is interested in the lyricism and vibrance of plant-life— how simple color-fields and forms are able to translate a feeling of expansion. The paintings, songs, poems, and sculptures are in conversation with the current contraction and ecological collapse. What emerges fromm the ashes, and what should remain intact? 

Lyness’s large-scale watercolor paintings on canvas are primed with a rabbit-skin glue and portray an essence of flora, of re-wilding, and of leeway.

Emma holds a BFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2021. She has performed as a singer-songwriter under the name 'flowering ground' since 2018.
